55 hotels allocated exclusively for international tourists from this week
Over 50 hotels will be out of bounds for locals when Sri Lanka reopens its borders for tourism from this week.
Sri Lanka will reopen its airports for international tourists from Thursday (21), as part of its post-Covid phase project.
Nearly 55 hotels have been allocated as designated accommodation for foreign tourists visiting Sri Lanka during the coronavirus pandemic.
Almost all the hotels are located out of Colombo, including some of the resorts managed by Cinnamon Hotels, Taj, Jetwing, Citrus and Amaya and Heritance.

Guests at the hotels have been prohibited from entertaining locals and holding any functions that involve locals, during their 14- day mandatory quarantine period.
The hotels have been demarcated as Level 1 certified ‘Safe and Secure’, while it will function exclusively for international tourists. (NewsWire)
