Mahara Prison unrest: Property damage valued at Rs 60 million
The Valuation Board has revealed that more than Rs. 60 million worth of property was damaged during the unrest at the Mahara Prison.
However, Prison Media Spokesperson Chandana Ekanayake told the Hiru News team that the damage caused by the incident including the property damage will be announced in the future.
The Prison Spokesperson further stated that steps were taken to file cases against 120 persons who had behaved in a riotous manner during the incident on charges of damaging State property.
The unrest at the Mahara Prison had damaged several buildings, a pharmacy and a number of properties including the archives.
