The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) nabbed four foreign nationals with 1680 kilos of dried turmeric and 150 kilos of cardamom during a special raid conducted recently in the north-western seas.
An Inshore Patrol Craft deployed by the SLN’s North-Western Command had noticed the suspicious dhow at the north of Kudiramalei Point, Puttalam and seized the haul of smuggled items, the SLN said.
According to the SLN, detainees, their dhow and the entire stock bundled into 62 sacks were handed over to the Customs Preventive Office, Katunayake for onward legal proceedings.
