The committee appointed to look into the Buwelikada tragic incident have submitted a 24 page report.

The report has revealed that the reason for the five storied building in the Buwelikada area in Kandy to collapse was not due to geological or natural causes.

The report attributes the collapse to a host of technical issues, negligence, wrong decisions taken during construction and the use of substandard raw materials.

The committee members handed over the 24 page report to the Governor of the Central Province Lalith U Gamage.

The five-storey building belonging to former Basnayake Nilame Anura Lewke collapsed on the morning of September 20 last year, killing a mother, father and their 50-day-old child while they were sleeping in the house which was situated next to this ill fated building.

The former Basnayake Nilame was arrested and later released on bail.
