A tragic report of a son killing his father has been reported.

The unfortunate incident was reported from the Hawpewatta area in Kahawatta.

Police Media Spokesperson DIG Ajith Rohana stated that the victim was a 72 year old resident of the same area.
He was brutally murdered by his 40 year old son.

The son has been arrested by the Kahawatta Police in connection with the murder.

The suspect's son had been under the influence of alcohol and further investigations have revealed that the murder had taken place after an argument between the two had escalated.

With the argument heating up the suspect has attacked his father with a mamoty.

The father who was critically injured father was admitted to the Kahawatta Hospital and later transferred to the Embilipitiya Hospital.

However, the father succumbed to his injuries at the Embilipitiya hospital.

The suspect is to be produced before the Pelmadulla Magistrate's Court while the Kahawatta Police are conducting further investigations.
