Mysterious death of well known Ratnapura gem merchant in a Dambulla rest house (Images)
The body of a well known gem merchant in the Ratnapura area has been found inside a room of a rest house in Dambulla.
It has been revealed that the deceased is a young businessman residing in the village area of Devalaya, Kahangama, Ratnapura.
It is reported that relatives of the deceased including a lawyer have arrived at the scene.
Investigations have revealed that the deceased businessman had arrived at his rest house at around 8.30 am yesterday (05).
The businessman, who had been drinking liquor that afternoon, later changed his room, telling the rest house staff that two more visitors would be arriving to join him at the rest house.
He had ordered dinner for that day but had not come to have it, and later investigations by the staff revealed that he had hanged himself.
The cause of death has not been revealed yet.
Subsequently, the Dambulla Police were informed and investigations were launched into the death and it is stated that facts are to be submitted to the Dambulla Magistrate's Court.
