Two sluice gates of the Rajanganaya reservoir opened
Two sluice gates of the Rajanganaya reservoir have been opened this morning (22) due to heavy rains.
The office of the Irrigation Engineer in charge of the reservoir stated that due to the opening of these sluice gates by two feet, a volume of 1214 cubic feet of water per second will be released into the Kala Oya.
The water capacity of Rajanganaya Reservoir is close to 77,700 acre feet and the water capacity of Kala Oya has also increased to 79,450 acre feet.
The Kalawewa Irrigation Engineering Office stated that the sluice gates of the Kalawewa reservoir will have to be opened by tonight as 8000 cubic feet of water per second is currently flowing into the Kalawewa from the Dambulla Oya due to the prevailing rains.
