Curfew unlikely in the coming festive season - will be based on cases reported
Army Commander Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva stated yesterday that they do not expect to impose curfew during the upcoming festive season.
However, the Army Commander further stated that he will not hesitate to take appropriate action at any time if required based on the coronavirus threat to the country.
With the identification of 650 new coronavirus infected persons including 12 from prisons, the total number of infected people in the country has increased to 35,387.
Accordingly, the number of infected persons reported from Minuwangoda Brandix, Peliyagoda Fish Market and Prison cluster is now at 31,720. The number of patients receiving further treatment at the hospitals are 8,874.
Prof. Channa Jayasumana, Minister of State for Drug Production, Supply and Regulation states that discussions have commenced at diplomatic level regarding the acquisition of Russian and Chinese coronavirus vaccines to Sri Lanka.
