Death of 68-year –old woman not due to COVID, says Army Commander
A 68-year-old woman has died while being transported to the Galkanda quarantine centre in Welikanda yesterday.
The woman was among associates of employees from the apparel factory in Minuwangoda infected with the coronavirus.
The woman has been identified as a resident of Warapalana Udapitiya, Gampaha and the mother of an employee of the apparel factory in Minuwangoda.
According to the Daily Mirror, nearly 80 individuals identified as family members and associates of employees from the apparel factory living in Gampaha, Minuwangoda, and Mahara were transported to the quarantine centre yesterday (07).
Head of the National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 Army Commander Lieutenant General Shavendra Silva said it has been ascertained that the cause of death was not due to coronavirus.
The Army Commander added that it has been confirmed that the woman had died due to a heart attack.
The body of the deceased has been placed at the Galkanda quarantine centre for the postmortem examination to be conducted.
