Four Covid patients arrested for robbery at Punani treatment centre
The Valaichchenai Police have arrested four Covid patients on suspicion of having stolen electronic goods from the Punnani Covid Treatment Centre.
Police Spokesman Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Ajith Rohana said the four patients were arrested while being discharged after receiving treatment at the centre.
The four men were set to be discharged on Saturday (12), but the chief doctor at the treatment centre had informed the Police that the men had stolen various items, including electronic goods from the centre, he said.
DIG Ajith Rohana further said as a result, the men were arrested on suspicion and were produced before the Valaichchenai Magistrate’s Court, following which they were remanded.
He added that three suspects are residents of Colombo -02, while one is a resident of Maskeliya.
