Universities to be re-opened
The attention of the University Grants Commission was drawn to the re-opening of all State Universities in the country.
Yesterday (16), the Inter-University Students Federation (IUSF) staged a protest in front of the Rajarata University demanding that all universities in the country be re-opened, immediately.
IUSF Convener Wasantha Mudali stated that relevant authorities must take the necessary steps to re-open universities as soon as possible.
When contacted, Prof. Sampath Amaratunga, Chairman of the UGC, said that discussions were underway with the health sector regarding the establishment of universities.
He also stated that examinations are still being held in universities
