Sri Lanka covid caseload nearing 30,000

With 798 cases of coronavirus infected persons being reported yesterday, the total number of infected people in the country has reached nearly 30,000

According to the Government Information Department, the total number of reported coronavirus infections has increased to 29,379.

From the 798 cases reported, 230 were from the prison cluster and another 567 were from the Peliyagoda cluster.

The Government Information Department stated that a person who came to Sri Lanka from Jordan was also identified as having the coronavirus infection.

Meanwhile, the prison cluster has incresed to 2,569 with 230 cases reported yesterday.

Meanwhile, Dr. Razia Pence, Sri Lanka Representative to the World Health Organization (WHO), handed over a stock of medical equipment and technical equipment required for the control of coronavirus in Sri Lanka to Lt. Gen. Shavendra Silva, Commander-in-Chief of the National Operation Center for the Prevention of the spread of Covid 19, yesterday.
