Gampaha HC lift travel ban on Basil Rajapaksa
Gampaha High Court Judge Nimal Ranaweera has ordered yesterday (02) that the overseas travel ban imposed on former Minister Basil Rajapaksa by the Gampaha High Court be lifted from yesterday (02).
The Attorney General had filed charges against former Minister Basil Rajapaksa and Thirukumar Nadesan in the Gampaha High Court for allegedly misusing government funds by purchasing land in Malwana, Dompe and constructing a large house and a swimming pool.
Presenting a motion in Court, President's Counsel T. Weeraratne requested the Court to lift the travel ban on his client since he is required to travel overseas.
High Court Judge Nimal Ranaweera also ordered the Gampaha High Court Registrar to inform the Controller of Immigration and Emigration regarding the lifting of the travel ban on former Minister Basil Rajapaksa.
