Cyclonic storm forecasted - Fishing communities requested not to venture into the sea

The Meteorology Department stated that the depression over the south-east Bay of Bengal lay centered 590 km east-southeast to

Trincomalee at 11:30 p.m. yesterday (30). The system is very likely to intensified into a deep depression during next six hours and likely to intensify further into a cyclonic storm during the subsequent 12 hours.

This system is very likely to move west-northwestwards and cross eastern coast of Sri Lanka between Batticaloa and Mullaitivu around tomorrow (02) evening.

Accordingly, the Disaster Management Centre requested the fishing and naval communities in the sea areas around the island including the Eastern Sea, not to venture into the sea until further notice.
