Road development: In 341 local government bodies
The Highways Ministry commenced the development of 341 roads in 341 local government bodies yesterday (29) to mark the first year of President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa’s tenure.
The estimated cost for this is Rs. 87.3 million.
Marking the inauguration, the carpeting of the road from Theresa Mawatha, Ja-Ela, Kandana to Rilaulla commenced under the patronage of Highways Minister Johnston Fernando.
The new project was launched in the local government areas as another step towards achieving the target of developing 100,000 km under the “Vision of Prosperity” national programme within the next four years.
Simultaneously, the carpeting of Wahatoya Gama Road, Kudahakapola South Temple Road, Ragama Zoysa Housing Roundabout Road, Ragama Dambuwa Road, and Ja-Ela Idivita Wewala Road near the Dandugama Lanka Sabha School in the Ja-Ela Pradeshiya Sabha area also commenced.
