Another cyclone developing near Sri Lanka
Another cyclone is developing near Sri Lanka and could affect the island.
There is a possibility to develop a low pressure area in the south-east of Bay of Bengal Sea area during next 24 hours. It is likely to affect weather over the island during next few days, Met department said.
Showers or thundershowers will occur at a few places in Uva, Central, Western and Sabaragamuwa provinces and in Galle and Matara districts after 2.00 p.m tomorrow. Fairly heavy falls about 50mm are likely at some places.
Accuweather experts tweeted saying a low pressure is expected to form over the Bay of Bengal this weekend and can become a cyclonic storm before reaching Sri Lanka and South India next week.
Experts also said that another low pressure is likely to form near the Andaman and Nicobar islands late next week. (With inputs from Colombo Gazette)
