Will a fee be charged for coronavirus cremations?
The Director General of the Health Promotion Bureau, Dr. Palitha Karunapema stated that no fee is charged from government hospitals for cremation of those who die due to corona infection.
This was stated at a media briefing held at the Health Promotion Bureau yesterday.
Speaking at the media briefing, Deputy Director of Health Services, Dr. Hemantha Herath said that although there are no symptoms in some people, they could have been infected with the virus and recovered naturally.
Meanwhile, former Director of the CID SSP Shani Abeysekara, who has been diagnosed with coronavirus infection, has been transferred to IDH Colombo.
The Commissioner General of Prisons Thushara Upuldeniya stated that the decision was taken on the recommendation of a doctor considering his long term illness.
