Govt. will take over Batticaloa Campus: Minister
Education Minister Professor G. L. Peiris said today that the Government will take the Batticaloa Campus under its purview.
Responding to MP Kavinda Jayawardane in Parliament, Minister Peiris said the resources at the Batticaloa Campus will be utilized in the programme of admitting more university students.
“It will be taken over by the government. We won’t recognize it in its current form or allow it to function as a private institution. We will use the resources of this campus when we admit more university students as it has advanced facilities than either the Colombo or Peradeniya University,” he said.
Minister Peiris said one of the 18 courses designed at the Batticaloa Campus was Bachelor of Arts in Sharia in Islamic Studies.
