Fast bowler Kasun Rajitha has picked up a groin strain
Fast bowler Kasun Rajitha has picked up a groin strain, ruling out his participation in the first test.
“He won’t bowl further in this game. Probably out of series too. We are virtually down to nine men” SLC official said.
Kasun Rajitha walked off the field after bowling just 2.1 overs in the first Test against South Africa. Rajitha, who was at the top of his run-up before bowling the second ball of his third over, threw the ball to the fielder at mid-off and started walking off the field.
Rajitha never looked in control of his bowling right from the onset. He conceded 16 runs in just 2.1 overs. This was another setback after middle order batsman, Dhananjaya de Silva was ruled out of the Test series after suffering a thigh injury.
Kasun Rajitha is the 5th player from Sri Lanka’s 22 member test squad to get injured.
1. Oshada Fernando – Ankle issue (To be fit for 2nd Test)
2. Angelo Mathews – Hamstring (Out of SA tests)
3. Suranga Lakmal – Hamstring (To be fit for 2nd Test)
4. Dhananjaya De Silva – Thigh injury (Out of SA tests)
5. Kasun Rajitha – Groin injury
