Suspect arrested with 1000 kilos of Turmeric
A suspect has been arrested with 1000 kilograms of turmeric worth Rs. 4 million which was illegally imported into the country.
The Police Media Spokesperson's Office stated that the stock of turmeric was found hidden inside a salt factory on the Puttalam Old Road.
The hidden stock was detected during a raid carried out by the Puttalam Police on an intelligence tip off from the Navy.
A 37 year old store keeper of the warehouse has been arrested in connection with the incident
Meanwhile, officers of the Puttalam Crime Division had found 232 kilos of turmeric in Puttalam the day before yesterday as well.
