WATCH : Action to be taken against drivers & passengers who give money to beggars near colour lights
Drivers and passengers have been warned that legal action will be taken against those who provide money to beggars at colour lights by obstructing traffic for fellow vehicles around them.
Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said that some individuals are forced to beg after being employed for a basic salary as part of a business.
Stating that the Police Department is looking at identifying such beggars to initiate legal action, DIG Ajith Rohana said therefore, drivers and passengers who provide money to such beggars will be deemed as having committed an offence.
