BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla has heaped praise on Sri Lankan batter Sonal Dinusha following his remarkable performances against India, comparing the 25-year-old to legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar.

“This Sonal of Srilanka is an amazing player. Looking like Tendulkar. Can be a wonderful test player in international cricket,” Shukla said in a social media post, tagging Sri Lanka Cricket.

Shukla’s comments came as Dinusha continued his outstanding run in the two-Test series against India, registering a fourth consecutive score of 50 or more.

Dinusha scored 100 and 84 in the opening Test in Galle before following it up with 103 in the first innings of the second Test in Colombo.

He then struck another half-century in Sri Lanka’s second innings on the final day, continuing his resistance alongside Sri Lanka’s tail as the hosts battled to avoid defeat.

Dinusha’s performances have made him one of Sri Lanka’s standout players of the series, with his consistency and ability to counter India’s spin attack attracting praise from several former players and commentators.
