Sri Lanka Cricket has named a 16-member squad for the opening Test against India, with experienced wicketkeeper-batter Niroshan Dickwella returning to the Test setup.

Dhananjaya de Silva will captain the side, while Kamindu Mendis has been named vice-captain.

Dickwella has been named as the wicketkeeper in the absence of Kusal Mendis, who misses the opening Test through injury. Pathum Nissanka is also absent from the squad.

The squad includes Lahiru Udara, Nishan Madushka, Dinesh Chandimal, Pasindu Sooriyabandara and Sonal Dinusha among the batting options.

Keshara Nuwantha has also earned a place in the squad, joining Ramesh Mendis and Prabath Jayasuriya among the spin options.

The pace attack features Milan Rathnayake, Asitha Fernando, Lahiru Kumara, Vishwa Fernando and Dilshan Madushanka.

The first Test will be played at the Galle International Cricket Stadium from August 15 to 19.

The two-match series forms part of the ICC World Test Championship 2025–27 cycle.
