Foreign remittances hit US$ 814.8m in March despite Middle East conflict
Foreign worker remittances to Sri Lanka amounted to US$ 814.8 million in March 2026, reflecting a 17.5% increase from US$ 693.3 million recorded in March 2025, according to the Central Bank of Sri Lanka.
Cumulative remittances for the January to March period in 2026 rose to US$ 2,294.9 million, up 26.5% from US$ 1,814.4 million during the corresponding period in 2025, the CBSL added.
The growth comes despite the ongoing Middle East conflict during March, which has disrupted global trade and energy flows, highlighting the resilience of remittance inflows.
