The number of coronavirus patients reported worldwide has increased to 50,728,891, while the death toll stands at 1,261,971.

The highest number of coronavirus patients reported in a day has been reported from the United States.

In the last 24 hours, 101,409 patients have been reported in the US, while 497 deaths have been reported as well.

Meanwhile, in Sri Lanka, with 510 new patients identified yesterday (08), the total number of COVID patients reported increased to 13,929.

Another 5,609 patients are still being treated at the hospital, while 8,285 have been recovered and discharged from the hospital.

With the COVID patients reported yesterday (08), the number of patients reported from the Minuwangoda Brandix factory and the Peliyagoda fish market cluster increased to 10,447.

The death toll in the country increased to 35 with the death of a 78-year-old who died on admission to the hospital.

The number of PCR tests conducted in the country also exceeded 600,000 with the last 50,000 tests conducted within four-and-half-days.
