Gold-Colored T56 Mag, Ammo Found In Middeniya Property Linked To Sampath Manamperi
A cache of weapons, including live ammunition and explosives, was uncovered on a property in Middeniya, authorities revealed following a targeted search operation.
The discovery was made after information was provided by Sampath Manamperi, a former Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna local government candidate, who is currently under investigation for multiple offenses.
Police reported that the search led to the recovery of a gold-colored T56 magazine, 115 rounds of T56 ammunition, a hand grenade, and a damaged 9mm pistol.
The items were found buried on the property, which is believed to be connected to Manamperi.
Investigations have revealed that the suspect allegedly concealed the weapons on September 3rd, hiding them in a pit on the premises of his mistress’s residence.
This revelation came to light during ongoing police inquiries.
Manamperi, who faces allegations related to the discovery of crystal methamphetamine (commonly known as ‘ice’) and two containers on a property in Middeniya, was surrendered to the Walasmulla Magistrate’s Court on September 17th.
Meanwhile, the Police Narcotics Bureau, which has custody of Manamperi, brought him to the Western Province North Crimes Division on Sunday (21) for further questioning regarding the discovery of narcotics on his property in Middeniya
