
Two Arrested With Heroin And Ice Worth Over Rs. 140 Million In Ragama
The two suspects arrested in Kendaliyaddapaluwa, Ragama, with heroin and ice drugs have been detained for seven days for questioning.
According to the police, the arrests were made based on a tip-off received by officers from the Ampara Divisional Criminal Investigation Bureau. The suspects were found in possession of 8 kilograms and 168 grams of heroin, along with 666 grams of ice (methamphetamine).
Police also seized Rs. 823,000 in cash, suspected to be proceeds from drug trafficking, along with 3 electronic scales, 4 mobile phones, 6 fake number plates, a car, a van, a three-wheeler, and 2 motorcycles.
The suspects, aged 21 and 42, are residents of the Hokandara and Ampara areas.
Investigations have revealed that the drug operation was being conducted with the involvement of a drug smuggler currently residing abroad. The suspects were operating from a rented house.
The street value of the seized heroin is estimated to be over Rs. 140 million.
