
President to Nominate New Chief Justice Within Two Weeks
Chief Justice Murdu Fernando is set to retire on the 27th of this month.
Following her retirement, the President is expected to nominate her successor within two weeks, subject to the approval of the Constitutional Council of Sri Lanka.
Justice Fernando, who served in the Attorney General’s Department for over 30 years, was appointed as Sri Lanka’s 48th Chief Justice on December 2nd, 2024.
