US Election: Biden takes lead over Trump in Michigan
Democratic candidate Joe Biden has taken the lead over President Donald Trump in key state Michigan in the 2020 US election, according to the latest poll results on Wednesday.
The former vice president has gained 2,518,923, or 49.4%, of the votes in the swing state, which was around 18,000 more than Trump’s 2,500,843, or 49.1%, votes, according to the Associated Press at 9.37 a.m. (1437GMT).
In the Wolverine State with 16 electoral votes, 94% of the votes have reportedly been counted.
However, Biden and Trump are neck and neck in a number of other key states as the presidential race comes to a close.
In Georgia, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Alaska, Trump is still ahead of Biden, while the Democrat candidate leads in Wisconsin and Nevada.
In 2016, Trump won Michigan with nearly 11,000 more votes than his then-Democratic rival Hillary Clinton.
