Rs. 7.3 Billion spent in October for COVID-19 relief purposes
The Sri Lankan Government said Rs. 7.3 Billion was spent in October 2020 alone, on providing relief and other allowances to the people who have been placed in quarantine in a bid to combat the spread of COVID-19.
Rs. 336.54 Million was allocated for the purpose of providing a food hamper valued at Rs. 10,000 for families placed under home quarantine.
In addition Rs. 56.16 Million Rupees were spent for quarantine purposes across 11 districts in the country.
Last month alone, the government allocated Rs. 6.9 billion to provide an allowance of Rs. 5,000 to those who lost their livelihoods due to the curfew.
