Activities related to the upcoming local government elections are proceeding rapidly these days.

The National Election Commission will convene today to discuss these matters.

The NEC stated that the polling for the three Pradeshiya Sabhas for which nomination dates were set yesterday, is currently planned to be held on the same day as the polling for the other local government bodies.

During today's commission meeting, there will be extensive discussions on this and other election operational matters.

The NEC also mentioned that postal voting procedures will be discussed at today's commission meeting.

The calling of nominations for the Mannar, Poonakary, and Dehiattakandiya Pradeshiya Sabha elections was scheduled yesterday, from the 24th to the 27th of March, until 12 noon.

This decision was made following the conclusion of legal proceedings related to the previous call for nominations for these Pradeshiya Sabhas.

Nominations for all other local government bodies, except the Kalmunai Municipal Council and the Elpitiya Pradeshiya Sabha, will be called from the 17th to the 20th of this month, until 12 noon.
