Department of Meteorology Issues Red Alert for Heavy Rainfall
The Met Department has issued a red alert for very high rainfall, due to the low pressure area developed close to the island.
Highest rainfall within the timeframe from 8.30 am yesterday to 4.15 am today, was reported from Lahugala in Ampara with a value of 191 mm.
The Maha Oya region in Ampara recorded 149.5 mm of rainfall, where as Damana in Ampara experienced 147 mm of rainfall.
