Nine Arrested as Police Respond to 290 Election Law Violations Ahead of 2024 General Election

Nine individuals in connection with complaints related to the 2024 general election have been arrested. The police stated they have received eight complaints regarding violations of election laws. 

Meanwhile, the Election Commission states that it has received a total of 290 complaints, regarding violations of election laws 

Election Commissioner General Saman Sri Ratnayake emphasizes that disciplinary action will be taken against officials, including police officers, who fail to enforce election laws.
