Sri Lanka Records Lowest Post-Election Violence in History: Acting IGP
Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasuriya has highlighted that the recent presidential election saw the fewest incidents of post-election violence in Sri Lanka's history.
He made this statement during the opening of the renovated Kalkudah police station.
Weerasuriya, who has served for 36 years, credited political authorities for their role in ensuring a smooth process and highlighted the professionalism of the police.
He also added that the positive response from the police has improved its reputation both locally and internationally.
