Sajith Pledges to Honor Traditional Heritage
Sajith Premadasa, the presidential candidate of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya, has vowed to give due respect to the country's traditional heritage if elected.
Premadasa outlined his plans to support those involved in arts and crafts, emphasizing the importance of preserving and honoring Sri Lanka's cultural legacy.
"Following the resounding victory that we will secure on the 21st of September, we will issue a separate Identification Card at the local government level to those involved in arts and crafts in the country. Thereafter, we will introduce legislation to bring forth honor and respect to those in these sectors. We need to award the due respect and honor to the traditional heritage of this country," Premadasa stated.
He also highlighted the potential for integrating tourism with the arts and crafts sector to generate foreign exchange.
Premadasa announced plans to establish a special Presidential Task Force dedicated to uplifting local traditional culture and ensuring its sustainability.
