Sajith Pledges to Revitalize Sugar Factories

Opposition leader and presidential candidate Sajith Premadasa has vowed to transform the Sevanagala and Pelwatta sugar factories into profitable institutions under a Samagi Jana Balavegaya government.

Premadasa emphasized the potential of these factories to thrive through proper management and utilization of national resources.

Premadasa criticized the current government's approach to privatization, accusing it of selling off profitable state-owned enterprises.

"Privatization is the name of this government as soon as it sees an institution. They are trying to privatize the profitable SLT, Litro Gas, SLIC, and SriLankan Catering," he stated.

Highlighting the importance of the sugar factories, Premadasa noted that over 30,000 people, including farming families, depend on these institutions.

He promised to halt the privatization trend and focus on using national resources for the welfare of the people.

Premadasa also criticized the government's inefficiency, pointing out its failure to provide basic services like passports.
