Plane Crash In Brazil Kills All 61 On Board

A twin-engine turboprop plane carrying 61 people crashed in the Brazilian state of São Paulo on Friday (09), killing everyone on board.

The ATR 72-500 was en route from Cascavel, Paraná to Guarulhos International Airport in São Paulo when it went down in the town of Vinhedo.

Authorities confirmed there were no survivors among the 57 passengers and four crew members.

Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva expressed condolences to the victims' families, while São Paulo Governor Tarcísio Gomes de Freitas declared a three-day mourning period.

The aircraft's flight recorders have been recovered and an investigation is underway.

The plane manufacturer, ATR, has pledged cooperation.

While the plane landed in a residential area, there were no casualties on the ground.
