Parliament Sittings Fixed For 1st, 2nd April
Acting Secretary General of Parliament Chaminda Kularatne stated that the Committee on Parliamentary Business which met recently (22) under the Chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardana decided to hold Sittings of Parliament for the next week on the 1st and 2nd.
Accordingly, on Monday the 1st of April Parliament will meet at 9.30 am the Regulations under the Ayurvedic Act presented to 19.03.2024 will be taken up for debate from 9.30 am to 4.30 pm. (Related motion for 04.01.2024 included in the No. 14 Order paper of Parliament)
Thereafter, from at 4.30 p.m following the Second Reading of the Private Member’s Bill International Institute of Theravadha (Incorporation) Bill, is scheduled to be moved to the Legislative Standing Committee.
Form 4.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m Motion at the Adjournment Time by the Government will be taken up.
On Tuesday, 2nd of April from t 9.30 am to 4.00 pm the Second Reading of the Banking (Amendment) Bill, Regulations under the Colombo Port City Economic Commissions Act published under Published in the Extraordinary Gazette No. 2358/70, Order under the Value Added Tax Act published under Published in the Extraordinary Gazette 2363/22, Regulations under the Imports and Exports (control) Act Published in Extraordinary Gazette 2370/15 are scheduled to be taken up for debate.
Thereafter, form 4.00 p.m. to 5.30 p.m Motion at the Adjournment Time by the Opposition will be taken up.
