1073 Suspects Arrested in Operation Yukthiya
Sri Lankan authorities have apprehended 1073 suspects as part of Operation Yukthiya, a sweeping law enforcement initiative.
The arrests occurred during a 24-hour operation that concluded at 12:30 this morning.
Among the detainees, 1019 individuals are linked to drug-related offenses. The Ministry of Public Security confirmed that 54 additional suspects, previously flagged by criminal divisions, were also taken into custody.
The police seized a substantial quantity of illicit substances, including heroin, ice, marijuana, and Mawa pills.
Notably, 49 of the arrested suspects were already on the watchlist of the Police Narcotics Bureau and the Police Special Bureau.
