School Bag Weight Reduction Measures Underway
The Ministry of Education has announced the immediate implementation of measures aimed at reducing the weight of school book bags in the Western Province.
This decision comes in response to growing concerns about the impact of heavy bags on students’ health and well-being.
Sirisoma Lokuwithana, the Education Secretary for the Western Province, emphasized that this initiative aligns with recommendations from the Ministry of Health.
The increasing weight of students’ book bags has led to spinal cord injuries and physical discomfort, prompting the need for urgent action.
