Gazette issued making it mandatory to display weight and price of bread
The Consumer Affairs Authority has issued a special gazette notification making it mandatory to display the standard weight of a loaf of bread and its price.
The relevant gazette issued in accordance with the powers vested to the Chairman of the Consumer Affairs Authority states the standard weight of a loaf of bread should be 450g.
It adds that the weight of half a loaf of bread should be 225g.
The gazette also states “tolerance deficiency”, which means the content less than the standard weight which is allowed, for a 450g loaf of bread is 13.5g.
