The Ceylon Electricity Board says that it sent letters calling for explanations to nearly 10,000 employees who participated in the recent protest after reporting sick leave.

Its spokesperson Deputy General Manager Noel Priyantha says that they will take further steps based on their responses.

The services of 66 employees who engaged in protests against the restructuring of the Electricity Board have been suspended.

Convenor of the United Trade Union Front of the C.E.B Ranjan Jayalal says that strict measures will be taken against the repression of employees.
