Police Bust Fake Land Reform Officers: 6 Arrested for Defrauding Locals.

Sri Lankan police have apprehended six suspects accused of swindling money by posing as Land Reform Commission officials. 

The scam targeted residents of Ridigama with promises of land ownership.

The police investigation was initiated upon receiving reports of a conflict between two groups in Ridigama. 

During the investigation, it came to light that a group claiming to be Land Reform Commission officials had visited a local temple, luring residents with the promise of land grants. 

These imposters then proceeded to defraud them of their money.

Three suspects donned Land Reform Commission t-shirts to bolster their false authority.

They lured victims with the enticing prospect of land ownership.

One individual fell prey to the scheme, handing over Rs. 100,000 to the scammers.

The investigation revealed that the scam potentially targeted residents across several locations, including Pothuhera, Dodangaslanda, Ibbagamuwa, Mahawela, and Kurunegala.

Sri Lanka police have assured further investigation into the matter to uncover the full extent of the scam and apprehend any additional individuals involved.
