N'Eliya Post Office Investment Project to go ahead
Sri Lanka Post said that permission was granted to utilize the iconic Nuwara Eliya Post Office building for an investment project.
The development of the iconic Nuwara Eliya Post Office will be undertaken by the Urban Development Authority in the near future.
UDA Director General Prasad Ranaweera told News 1st that any future steps will be taken after the existing post office is relocated.
Built in 1894, during the colonial period, the Post Office in Nuwara Eliya is one of the few ancient buildings owned by the Sri Lanka Postal Department.
The Nuwara Eliya Post Office was built according to the Victorian Model, belongs to the UK building culture, and is also a key landmark that attracts visitors to Nuwara Eliya.
The building is popular among tourists as "The Pink Post Office".
