Cinnamon prices drop in Sri Lanka.
Cinnamon prices have dropped in the Sri Lankan market, said the Department of Agriculture.
Alba cinnamon is the highest grade of Ceylon cinnamon available in the Cinnamon market.
The Department of Agriculture said that a kilogram of Alba Cinnamon is sold for Rs. 4,800/- to Rs. 5,000/- at present which is a drop of Rs. 500/-.
The main livelihood of those living in the Katuwana and Walasmulla areas in the Hambantota district is cinnamon cultivation, and due to the slow sale of cinnamon, the price has dropped, leading to serious economic issues for those in the industry at grassroot level.
