
New guidelines on how to deal with suspects in Police custody.
The Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka said that it has prepared a series of new guidelines for dealing with suspects in Police custody.
HRCSL Commissioner Attorney Nimal Punchihewa said the measure was taken after taking into consideration the recent increase in deaths of suspects while in Police custody.
He said more than 20 people have died in Police custody so far this year.
Attorney Nimal Punchihewa said the guidelines will be released on the 11th of next month in line with Human Rights Day.
