All Ceylon Egg Producers' Association decides to release eggs from farms at 40 rupees.

The All Ceylon Egg Producers' Association says that steps have been taken to release eggs from farms at a price of 40 rupees.

Its chairman Sarath Rathnayake says that accordingly, consumers will be able to purchase an egg from shops at a price of 42 to 45 rupees.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Agriculture Mahinda Amaraweera says that the producers agreed to reduce the price of a kilogram of chicken by 100 rupees.

The minister says that they are able to do so with the lowering of the taxes imposed on the import of maize.
