Flying kites near airports is a punishable offense.
Sri Lankan officials have warned that flying kites near airports is strictly prohibited.
In a statement on Friday (4), the Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited noted that flying kites or any similar device within a five-kilometer radius of an international airport in Sri Lanka is prohibited, as it would disrupt airport and airplane operations, and pose a threat to life and property.
Airport and Aviation Services (Sri Lanka) (Private) Limited said strict punishments will be imposed as per the existing law against those who disregard such warnings.
