Hydropower generation reduced due to low water levels.
Hydropower generation has reduced to 16 percent of the total power generation.
The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) said the water levels in the reservoirs associated with power plants have also reduced to 20 percent.
Accordingly, 64 percent of the daily power generation is being obtained from coal and thermal power plants.
Additionally, 5 percent of solar power and 6 percent of wind power are added to the national grid daily.
The CEB said however the electricity demand in Sri Lanka has increased to 48 gigawatt hours.
