Cattle in the North Western Province should not be used for meat production or consumption, the Department of Animal Production and Health stressed.
"The lumpy disease has spread among 2,000 cattle," Director of the Department of Animal Production and Health of the North Western Province B.C.S Perera said.
"The lumpy disease is being reported in at least 39 out of the 47 MOH divisions of the North Western Province," Perera said.
In the meantime, the Department of Animal Production and Health has imposed a complete ban on the transportation of cattle to and from the North-Western Province.
